Bill Hoffman enters his 22nd year as Head Coach of the Christian Brothers University Cross Country Teams.

Hoffman helped guide the first NCAA All-American in program history, Stephen Hill. Hill qualified for the national championships three of his four years, including a 31st place finish as a freshman and 43rd as a sophomore. He was a four-time All-GSC and All-South Region runner as well.

Hill is also the only CBU men's student-athlete to earn the prestigious Gulf South Conference Commissioner's Trophy winner. The Commissioner's Trophy is the highest honor for a GSC student-athlete.

Hoffman also helped guide the most decorated runner in program history, Johanna Wistokat. Wistokat recently wrapped up a highly decorated career that saw her become the first GSC Cross Country Champion in program history. She also blew away the field with a victory at the NCAA South Region Championships, and finished 30th place at the NCAA Championships. Wistokat was a two-time All-American and a two-time All-Region performer. She also shined in the classroom, where she was a GSC Champion Scholar Athlete and earned nine GSC All-Academic honors.

Hoffman founded the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic, which is the largest night-time cross country race east of the Mississippi River.
The race features top middle schools, high schools and colleges from the South and Midwest regions. Over 2600 runners take part in this event each year.

During his coaching career, Hoffman has helped guide two All-Americans, six All-Region performers and 15 All-GSC runners. Hoffman was also the first Track and Field Head Coach in program history (2014-16), where he helped guide 2016 GSC Men's Track Athlete of the Year, Brian Braswell. Braswell was also the Most Outstanding Field Performer and the GSC Freshman of the Year.

Hoffman started coaching Men's cross country as an assistant coach at Murray State University in the 1990-1991 season. While at Murray State, he coached three Olympic runners, four All-Americans, and eight All-Conference runners. In 1996 Hoffman became the head cross country coach at Germantown High School in Germantown, Tenn., where he coached former CBU runners Will Wright and Brent Ellis. His team gradually improved their finish in the state championships each year they qualified (1996 - 18th, 1998 - 12th, 1999 - 9th, 2000 - 8th, and 2001 - 5th). His 2001 fifth-place finish was the best ever finish of a Germantown cross country team. At Germantown, he coached two All-State cross country runners, placing third overall in 2000 and 9th overall in 2001. He was also an assistant track coach at Germantown from 1996-2000 where he coached many all-state runners and jumpers.

Hoffman was an All-State cross country high school runner in Pennsylvania. He ran for Indiana University of Pennsylvania for two years before he transferred to Eastern Kentucky University. At EKU, he earned Ohio Valley Conference Runner of the Year honors in 1989 for cross country. He was the conference champion in track and cross country. He was a three-time All-OVC honoree in track and cross country, and was named to the OVC Academic Honor Roll three times. From 1991-1996 he ran competitively for Reebok Southwest Track Club and PowerBar. He competed in two World Cross Country Trails and won several Regional Road Races. His current personal records include a 4:12 mile, a 14:12 5K, and a 30:26 10K.

He earned a BS in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky, and an MA in Health and Physical Education from Murray State. He is married to the former Teri Moore and has a son, Colin and a daughter, Mia.
