PINE BLUFF, Ark.--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs snapped a two-match losing streak Monday night with a 3-1 win at Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The Lady Bucs (6-3) won the first set 29-27 and followed it with a dominant 25-14 win in set two. UAPB (0-5) pulled within one by winning 25-22 in the third set, but CBU won the final set 25-22 for the win.
Freshman outside hitter
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) led the Lady Bucs with 10 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore
Leigh Stavrum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Notre Dame HS) had 19 digs to go with eight kills. As a team, the Lady Bucs had a season-high 13 aces, led by six from senior
Bridget Buckley (Parker, Colo./Chapparal HS), who moved into second place in career service aces during the match.
The Lady Bucs will be back in action this weekend in the Tusculum Fall Classic as they take on Augusta State and West Alabama Friday and Barton and Lander Saturday.
