RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.—Host Arkansas Tech swept a three-set match from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Thursday night in Gulf South Conference West Division volleyball action.
The Golden Suns (23-11, 7-3 GSC West) held off the Lady Bucs (16-13, 5-6) 25-23 in the first set, and they outlasted CBU 29-27 in a second set that saw 23 ties and eight lead changes. ATU led wire to wire in the third set in a 25-17 win.
Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS),
Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS), and
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led the Lady Bucs' offense with seven kills each.
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) added a team-high 11 digs, while
Kelsey Green (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) had 29 assists.
The Lady Bucs step out of conference play next week as they host LeMoyne-Owen Monday at 6 p.m. and North Alabama Tuesday at 7 p.m. They finish the regular season with a GSC West match next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Arkansas-Monticello.
