Nikki Dunn (Southaven, Miss., Southaven HS) tossed her third career no-hitter Tuesday afternoon at Williams Baptist, leading the Lady Bucs to a 1-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader. They dropped the nightcap 4-1.
Dunn struck out eight batters in the no-hitter, which comes a start after she carried a perfect game into the 10th inning against Arkansas-Monticello Saturday. Junior
Alyse Brewer (Florence, Ala./Florence HS) provided all the offense the Lady Bucs (15-21) needed as she hit an RBI double. The Lady Bucs' win snapped an eight-game winning streak for Williams Baptist (18-13).
In the nightcap, the Lady Eagles used a pair of two-run homers to claim the 4-1 victory.
Michelle Paul (Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Summit HS) hit a solo homer for the Lady Bucs' only run.
The Lady Bucs return to Bland Field this weekend, hosting Southern Arkansas in a four-game series. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 3 p.m., with a noon doubleheader scheduled for Sunday.
