MEMPHIS—Christian Brothers University junior third baseman Casey King (Flower Mound, Texas, Flower Mound HS) blasted a three-run homer in the second inning to lift the Lady Bucs to a 4-2 win over Bethel after dropping the first game 2-0.

The Lady Bucs (4-6) loaded the bases with none out in the second inning of game two with two singles and an error.  Kaylea Brewer (Pulaski, Tenn./Giles County HS) drove in a run with a groundout, and King sent a 1-1 pitch flying to the Signaigo Field construction area well beyond the fence in right-center, giving Brewer all the offense she would need.

Bethel (1-1) scored their two runs in the sixth inning as Brittany Edmonds hit a double and Katie Pacifici hit a two-run homer to cut the lead in half, but Brewer allowed only one more baserunner in the win.

Brewer continued her strong pitching, mowing down 13 Bethel hitters, bringing her to 43 strikeouts in 21.2 inings.  She allowed two runs on six hits and a walk.

Alyse Brewer (Florence, Ala./Florence HS) paced the CBU offense, going 3-for-3.  Lauren Dorsett (Mufreesboro, Tenn./Blackman HS) added two hits.

In the first game, Bethel pitcher Leah Hensley shut out the Lady Bucs on three hits and five walks, striking out six.

Bethel scored a run in the first on a Brittany Edmonds double after Ashley Simmons drew a two-out walk.  Their other run came in the third as Pacifici singled Lindsey Davis home after a leadoff walk.

Kaylea Brewer went 2-for-2 in the game, while Alana Kramer (Jackson, Tenn./North Side HS) provided the Lady Bucs' other hit, a third-inning double.

The Lady Bucs hit the road Tuesday night for the first two of eight straight road games.  Their doubleheader at Freed-Hardeman starts at 3 p.m.  Their next home game is their GSC opener, a March 13 doubleheader against Henderson State at 1 p.m.
