Box Score 2 MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs rolled to a pair of three-set wins in the season-opening Christian Brothers University Tournament Friday night at Canale Arena, sweeping Stillman and Illinois-Springfield.
In the opener, the Lady Bucs (2-0) cruised past Stillman (0-1) 25-15, 25-11, 25-13.
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led the offense with six kills as 11 of the Lady Bucs' 13 players posted at least one kill in the match.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) and
Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) collected 11 digs each, while
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) gathered a match-best 27 assists.
Jamila McKinnis led the Lady Tigers with seven kills, and Kiaundra Spann collected a match-best 13 digs.
The Lady Bucs won 25-18, 25-23, 25-20 in their second match of the night, against Illinois-Springfield (0-2). Hein and
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) led CBU with 11 kills each in the match as Hein logged the Lady Bucs' first double-double of the season with 11 digs. Doder collected 14 digs, while
Lauren South (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) added nine. Miles had 28 assists.
Kellee Mahaffay led the Prairie Stars with 15 kills, and Bianca Sanchez posted a match-best 16 digs.
The Lady Bucs are in action again Saturday at Canale Arena with an 11 a.m. match against Cameron followed by a 3 p.m. tilt against Missouri Western.
