Marie Joiner went 3-for-3 with a run in the Lady Bucs' 12-2 loss to Ouachita Baptist. OBU led game two of the doubleheader 9-1 in the sixth when it was suspended.
MEMPHIS—Visiting Ouachita Baptist scored 11 runs in two innings as they claimed a 12-2 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, and game two was suspended in the sixth inning with OBU leading 9-1.

In the opener, the Lady Tigers (10-10, 5-0) batted around in a five-run second inning, using three errors, five singles, a walk, and a double to take an early lead.

The Lady Bucs (7-15, 1-8) cut the deficit to three in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with a hit batter and two singles and scoring on a pair of bases-loaded walks.

OBU blew it wide open in the top of the third, however, scoring six runs on four singles, a walk, a hit batter, and an Alexis Johns grand slam.  They tacked on an unearned run in the fourth to set the final margin.

Marie Joiner (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) paced the Lady Bucs' offense, going 3-for-3 with a run scored.  Jessica Ambers (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) and Nikki Story (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) also collected a single each.

In the second game, OBU took the lead early, scoring on a pair of doubles in the top of the first.  In the bottom of the inning, Kathleen Nelson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bolton HS) led off with a homer to left to put the Lady Bucs on the board.

OBU regained the lead in the second inning, scoring off a pair of singles.  They tacked on another run in the fourth inning before takng a commanding lead with three runs in the fifth on two singles, two walks, and a double.  They added three more in the top of the sixth on two walks, a single, an error, and a double.

The game was suspended with one out in the bottom of the sixth.  Story led off with a walk, and Nelson followed with a single.  A Michelle McEachron (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS) sacrifice bunt moved them to second and third with one out, and with an 0-1 count on Casey King (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS), a lightning bolt flashed within 10 miles of the field.

The mandatory 30-minute delay would have exhausted the available daylight, so the game was suspended until Monday at noon.  Monday's doubleheader will follow at the conclusion of the suspended game.
