Box Score 2 MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs made the most of an unusual schedule Saturday, sweeping Austin College in three sets in a morning match at Rhodes before returning to Canale Arena and defeating Union in four sets Saturday afternoon.
In the first match, the Lady Bucs (10-2) cruised to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-20 win over the Kangaroos (7-5). Freshman
Hannah Kurtz (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) pounded out 18 kills and hit .448 to lead the way, while
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) collected 21 digs.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) added 34 assists and eight digs.
Saturday afternoon, the Lady Bucs won the first set 25-21 and cruised to a 25-16 win in the second set before Union (6-6) fought their way back into it with a 25-18 win in the third set. The Lady Bucs finished the match off with a 25-13 win in the fourth set. Kurtz continued her strong play with 14 kills, while
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added 11.
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) racked up 10 kills and 15 digs, while Doder posted a match-best 23 digs. Miles collected 40 assists with 10 digs.
The Lady Bucs open Gulf South Conference play Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they visit No. 21 North Alabama. Their GSC home opener is set for Friday night, Sept. 23, when they welcome West Florida for a 7 p.m. match.
