Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FLORENCE, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split a doubleheader at North Alabama Saturday afternoon, winning the opener 3-1 before dropping a 9-2 decision in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Lady Bucs (11-23, 6-14 GSC) scored the game's first run in the top of the third on a Jennifer Gonzalez (Covina, Calif./Charter Oak HS) sacrifice fly after back-to-back singles by Allyson Grooms (Buena Vista, Tenn./Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central HS) and Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS).  UNA (18-19, 7-15) answered with a run in the bottom of the third on four hits and a walk.  The score remained knotted until the fifth, when Gonzalez smoked a two-run single to left, scoring Gracia and pinch-runner Lorin Raines (Brighton, Tenn./Brighton HS).

Pitcher Kim Adams (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) kept the Lions at bay, holding them to one run on 10 hits and two walks as she improved her record to 9-11.  Gonzalez went 2-for-2 with three RBI in the game, and Grooms went 2-for-3.

In the second game, the Lions scored three runs in the first inning to take control.  They added two in the second, three in the third, and another run in the fourth to pull away to a commanding 9-0 lead.  The Lady Bucs scored twice in the top of the fifth, when Rachel Kelly (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) drew a walk and Gracia laid down a bunt single.  Olivia Kegler (Ballwin, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) hit an RBI single to score Kelly, and Gonzalez drove in her fourth run of the day with an RBI single to cap the game's scoring.

The Lady Bucs visit No. 22 Alabama-Huntsville tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader.
