Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split a doubleheader with Rhodes Sunday afternoon in the season opener for both schools, with Rhodes winning the opener 7-3 before CBU won the second game 13-6.

In game two, the Lady Bucs (1-1) exploded for a seven-run second inning to take control.  Back-to-back singles by Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/James Campbell HS) and Jennifer Gonzalez (Covina, Calif./Charter Oak HS) started the rally.  After a sacrifice bunt, Kim Adams (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) added another single.  Bianca Cowan (Byhalia, Miss./Center Hill HS) followed with another RBI single, and Marie Joiner (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) hit an RBI double to left.  Gabrielle Sereika (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute), the ninth batter of the inning, hit another single, and Rosa-Ramon and Gonzalez singled again to complete the inning.

Rhodes (1-1) scored twice in the third and once in the fifth to pull within four runs, but the Lady Bucs again responded.  Gonzalez hit a single to right, and Nikki Story (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) followed with another single.  Adams smoked a two-run double to left-center and scored on a Cowan groundout.  Rhodes scored another run in the sixth, but the Lady Bucs scored three in the bottom of the frame on four walks and two errors.  Rhodes tacked on two more in the top of the seventh to set the final margin.

Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in the second game, while Adams and Rosa-Ramon added two hits and two runs each, with Adams driving in three.  Story also scored twice, and Cowan drove in two runs.  Adams earned the win, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings.

In the opener, the Lady Bucs scored three quick runs in the first as Joiner singled, moved to third on a pair of wild pitches, and beat the throw home on an Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) sacrifice bunt.  Gracia stole second and scored on a wild pitch, and Gonzalez blasted a homer to left-center.  From there, Rhodes pitcher Forrest Skelton settled down, keeping the Lady Bucs scoreless for the remainder of the game, with only one runner reaching second base.

The Lynx scored once in the second, and they tied the game with two in the top of the third.  A fifth-inning run put them on top, and they sent eight batters to the plate in a three-run seventh to pull away for the win.

Joiner went 2-for-4 in the first game.

The Lady Bucs return to action Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they host a doubleheader against Martin Methodist.
