CARROLLTON, Ga.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs earned their sixth win in the last seven matches Friday night with a three-set sweep at West Georgia.
The Lady Bucs (9-8, 7-5 GSC) scored the last two points of the first set to win 26-24 after it had been tied at 22, 23 and 24 points each. In the second set, the Lady Bucs opened an early 11-5 lead and held on to win 25-17. In the third set, the Lady Bucs used a five-point run to take an early 8-3 lead, and they went on to win 25-23 to complete the sweep.
Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led CBU with 11 kills and four aces, adding nine digs.
Maggie Sorensen (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) tacked on 10 kills and seven digs.
Brittany Toney (Rockledge, Fla./Rockledge HS) notched a match-high with 15 digs, and
Sami Gruse (Lafayette, Ind./Central Catholic HS) passed out 30 assists with nine digs.
Tiffany Ancrum led UWG with 10 kills, while Kayla Hartman added team-highs of 18 assists and 12 digs.
The Lady Bucs are back in action Saturday morning at 10 a.m. as they visit West Alabama. Their next home match is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24 as they host West Florida at 7 p.m.
