MEMPHIS-Lee University's Morgan Sandifer scored the game-winning goal with just nine seconds remaining in regulation to hand a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday night at Signaigo Field.
The Lady Flames (9-4-1, 8-1 GSC) opened the scoring in the 66th minute as Michelle Spangler scored off a Kinsey CIchowitz corner kick. The Lady Bucs (11-4, 6-4) equalized in the 75th minute as
Camilla Rodrigues (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) scored on a penalty kick for her 10th goal of the season.
But just nine seconds from the end of regulation, Sandifer found the net for what proved to be the game-winner.
The Lady Flames out-shot CBU 13-6 for the game, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.
Robyn Wade (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) made five saves in the game for CBU.
The Lady Bucs return to action Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they celebrate Senior Day against Shorter.
