Balanced Lady Bucs Top Lane 80-57

MEMPHIS-Four players scored in double figures as the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs defeated visiting Lane College 80-57 Saturday afternoon in CBU's home opener.

Lane (0-1) jumped to a 6-2 lead in the first four minutes, but the Lady Bucs (1-1) seized control with a 16-3 run capped by a Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) bucket that gave CBU an 18-9 lead with 11:20 remaining in the half. Lane never came closer than four points again in the game.

CBU put the game out of reach midway through the second half with a 16-6 run, as an Emily Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) layup capped the run to give CBU a 68-41 lead with 7:20 remaining in the game, and CBU never allowed the Lady Dragons closer than 20 again.

Ridgell paced the Lady Bucs with 21 points, and Reeves scored 16 with four rebounds. Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) tacked on 14 with five assists and two steals, and Madison Luckett (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) added 10. Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) racked up game-highs of 16 rebounds and six assists to go with four points.

Chloe Roberts scored a game-high 23 points for the Lady Dragons, and SeQoya Cox scored 15.

The Lady Bucs shot 47.7 percent (31-of-65) overall for the game, including 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from three-point range. They held Lane to 32.7 percent (17-of-52) for the game, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from beyond the arc. CBU held a 47-27 edge on the boards, including a 12-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Each team committed 16 turnovers.

The Lady Bucs return to action Thursday and Friday as they open a five-game road trip with a visit to Alaska-Anchorage. Thursday's game is scheduled for a 10 p.m. tip-off, with Friday night's game set for 10:30 p.m. The Lady Bucs' next home game will be Thursday, Dec. 11, when they host Delta State at 5 p.m.
