ANCHORAGE, Alaska-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs shot a season-low 18.9 percent Friday night in a 78-41 loss at Alaska-Anchorage.
After a
Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) three-pointer to open the game, the Seawolves (4-0) answered with a 15-2 run to take a lead they would never relinquish, taking a 15-5 lead on a pair of Kiki Robertson free throws. UAA's lead grew to as many as 20 points in the final moments of the first half.
The Lady Bucs (1-3) opened the second half with a bang, holding UAA scoreless from the field for nearly four minutes as they opened the half on a 6-0 run, pulling within 34-20 on a
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) free throw with 17:22 remaining. The Seawolves eventually pulled away as the Lady Bucs struggled to score.
Ridgell scored a game-high 17 points with eight rebounds, and Banks scored 13 with six rebounds and three steals.
Emily Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) had game-highs of four steals and two blocks.
Robertson led UAA with 13 points and four steals. Megan Mullings scored 12. Leah Bonner tacked on 11, while Jessica Madison and Alli Madison added 10 each, with Alli Madison gathering a game-high 10 rebounds.
CBU shot 18.9 percent (10-of-53) for the game, including 12.5 percent (2-of-16) from three-point range. The Seawolves finished 42.4 percent (28-of-66) for the game, including 33.3 percent (4-of-12) from three-point range. The Lady Bucs shot 65.5 percent (19-of-29) at the free throw line to UAA's 69.2 percent (18-of-26). UAA out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 57-31, including a 22-11 edge in offensive rebounds. Each team committed 24 turnovers.
The Lady Bucs return to action Wednesday night at 6 p.m. as they visit Lane. Their next home game is Thursday, Dec. 11, as they host Delta State at 5 p.m.
