JACKSON, Tenn.-Four Christian Brothers University players scored in double figures as the Lady Bucs rolled to a 77-56 win at Lane Wednesday night.
After digging a quick 4-0 deficit, the Lady Bucs (2-3) knocked down four three-pointers, two by freshman
Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian School), as part of a 12-4 burst that gave them a lead they would never relinquish.
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) knocked down a triple to cap an 11-2 run late in the first half, giving CBU a 45-28 lead with 1:53 remaining in the half. The Lady Dragons (0-4) never came closer than 14 points again, with CBU leading by as many as 28 points in the final minutes.
Ridgell led all scorers with 21 to go with five rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Lee scored a career-high 17 with five assists and four steals, while
Madison Luckett (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) scored 14 in 16 minutes.
Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored 11 with five assists, and
Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) hauled in 13 rebounds to go with seven points and two blocks.
Chloe Roberts led Lane with 18 points. Niya Royal scored 10, and Crystal Rayford added eight with 14 rebounds.
The Lady Bucs shot a season-high 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from three-point range, 43.3 percent (29-of-67) overall. Lane shot just 27.3 percent (15-of-55) for the game. The Lady Bucs out-rebounded Lane 40-38. Each team grabbed 14 offensive rebounds, and the Lady Bucs forced 18 turnovers while committing 14.
CBU returns to action Friday night at 7:05 p.m. as they visit Arkansas State for an exhibition game. They open GSC play next Thursday night at 5 p.m. as they visit Lee. Their next home game is set for Thursday, Dec. 11, as they host Delta State at 5 p.m.
