LIVINGSTON, Ala.-Host West Alabama scored a pair of second-half goals as they defeated the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 2-0 in the Gulf South Conference quarterfinals Tuesday night.
The fourth-seeded Tigers (14-4-1) scored the only goal they would need in the 59th minute, after a scoreless first half. UWA's Nina Coleman headed in a Katy Morris corner kick in the 59th minute to give UWA a 1-0 edge.
In the 87th minute, the Tigers set the final margin as Tori Brook scored off an assist by Lydia Sutcliffe.
The Tigers' defense clamped down throughout the game, holding CBU (13-5) to just two total shots, neither on goal, with both shots coming in the first 37 minutes of the contest. For the game, UWA out-shot the Lady Bucs 9-2, with a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.
Robyn Wade (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) made one save in the game for CBU.
