Big Innings Lift Lady Hawks to Sweep

Ali Hare went 2-for-4 as the Lady Bucs lost two games at Shorter Saturday afternoon.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROME, Ga.-Host Shorter posted a five-run inning in each game of Saturday's doubleheader as they swept the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 6-1 and 9-0.

In the opener, Shorter (8-6, 4-1 GSC) used a double and a single to plate a run in the bottom of the first. They blew it open in the fifth, scoring five times on four singles and a three-run homer by Ericka Bynum.

CBU (1-6, 0-2) scored its only run of the day in the top of the seventh inning in game two. Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) drew a one-out walk and moved to third on a Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/James Campbell HS) single. She scored when Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) reached on a two-out error to set the final margin.

In the second game, the Lady Hawks took an early lead in the third inning on a two-run homer by Kendall Johnson. They doubled their lead in the fourth when Megan Christensen hit another two-run homer, and they ended the game in the sixth with five runs on four hits and two walks.

Ali Hare (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida Baker HS) led the Lady Bucs' offense in the game, going 2-for-3 as she accounted for half the Lady Bucs' hits.

The Lady Bucs and Lady Hawks meet again tomorrow at noon in the final game of the series. CBU's home opener is set for Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they host Harding in a doubleheader.
