Gabrielle Sereika went 2-for-3, but the Lady Bucs lost 4-3 at Shorter Sunday afternoon.
Box Score ROME, Ga.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs finished just 60 feet short of picking up their first Gulf South Conference win of the season Sunday, losing 4-3 at Shorter with the tying run stranded on third base.

The Lady Bucs (1-7, 0-3 GSC) took an early lead, scoring in the top of the first as Marie Joiner (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) reached on a leadoff error, stole second and scored on a two-out Gabrielle Sereika (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) single.

The Lady Hawks (9-6, 5-1) tied the game in the bottom of the second with a run on a double and a single, and they took the lead in the bottom of the third with two runs on two doubles and an error.

Shorter extended its lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning with another run on two singles and two sacrifices.

Pinch hitter Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) drove her in with a double and moved to third on the throw home. Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) was hit by a pitch and moved to second. She moved to third, and Seward scored, on a Bianca Cowan (Byhalia, Miss./Center Hill HS) sacrifice bunt, bringing the Lady Bucs within a 4-3 margin with the tying run on third and one out. But a groundout and a strikeout ended the game, allowing Shorter to complete the series sweep.
