Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-No. 7 Alabama-Huntsville used a four-run fourth inning a they pulled away to a 6-1 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Sunday afternoon.
As they did in yesterday's second game, the Lady Bucs (9-32, 2-22 GSC) struck first with a run in the second inning.
Gabrielle Sereika (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) led the inning off with a single, but pinch-runner
Lorin Raines (Brighton, Tenn./Brighton HS) was forced out when
Sammi Canizaro (Nesbit, Miss./Horn Lake HS) grounded into a force play.
Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) hit an RBI double to center, scoring Canizaro and giving CBU the lead.
The Chargers (33-6, 18-6) answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, converting on a single and a double. They took the lead with a two-out run in the third, loading the bases with two singles and a walk and scoring on a sacrifice fly.
UAH put it out of reach in the fourth inning, when they scored four runs on two singles, two walks, an error and a double to set the final margin at 6-1.
Five different Lady Bucs collected a hit each, with Seward and
Marie Joiner (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) hitting doubles.
Kasey Beekman (Aurora, Colo./Aliso Niguel (Calif.) HS) tossed two scoreless innings of relief, scattering three hits.
The Lady Bucs come home next weekend, hosting a 1 p.m. Friday doubleheader against West Georgia. Saturday's single game is set for a noon start.
