Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MEMPHIS-Visiting West Georgia swept a doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday afternoon, spoiling CBU's Senior Day as they held on for a 5-4 win in the opener and won 8-0 in the nightcap.

The Wolves (21-24, 9-16 GSC) wasted no time getting on the board in game one as leadoff hitter Mackenzie Arlt homered to center on the third pitch of the game. They added another tally in the top of the first on a pair of doubles, and they scored twice in the fourth on two singles and a double to extend their lead to 4-0.

The Lady Bucs (9-34, 2-24) halved the deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning. Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/James Campbell HS) walked, but pinch-runner Gabriela Nodine (Redlands, Calif./Redlands HS) was out when Ali Hare (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida Baker HS) grounded into a force play. Singles by Sammi Canizaro (Nesbit, Miss./Horn Lake HS) and Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) loaded the bases, and Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) hit a two-run single to bring CBU within a 4-2 score.

UWG tacked on what proved to be a crucial insurance run in the top of the sixth on a walk, a sacrifice bunt and a single. The Lady Bucs scored twice in the bottom of the sixth. Gabrielle Sereika (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) singled, and pinch-runner Tiari-Jay Fernandez (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani HS) stole second, moving to third on a Canizaro single. A passed ball brought Fernandez home and moved Canizaro to second, and Seward singled to left to bring Canizaro home. But a groundout ended the threat, and the Lady Bucs were retired in order in the seventh to end the game.

Seward went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the game, while Canizaro was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs.

In game two, the Wolves plated five runs on five hits and a walk in the top of the first to take complete control of the game, and they tacked on three more in the third on two singles, a hit batter and a pair of bases-loaded walks as they set the final margin at 8-0.

The Lady Bucs mustered just three hits off UWG starter Meagan Stover. Amanda Wade (Water Valley, Ky./Graves County HS) tossed three scoreless innings for CBU, allowing one hit and one walk against two strikeouts.

The Lady Bucs honored their seven seniors before the first game.

CBU and UWG meet again Saturday at noon in the Lady Bucs' final home game of the season.
