Box Score 2 CLEVELAND, Tenn.-Host Lee swept a Gulf South Conference doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon, winning 11-1 in the opener and claiming an 11-2 win in the nightcap.
The Lady Flames (22-22, 12-14 GSC) jumped to a commanding lead early in game one. They scored three runs in the first on three singles, an error and a walk, and they followed with a four-run second inning on three singles, a double and a homer.
Lee put it out of reach with four more in the third inning with four runs on three singles and a homer.
The Lady Bucs (9-37, 2-27) set the final margin in the top of the fifth.
Bianca Cowan (Byhalia, Miss./Center Hill HS) singled with one out and moved to second on a
Jennifer Gonzalez (Covina, Calif./Charter Oak HS) single.
Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/James Campbell HS) followed with a single to right to score Cowan and set the final score at 11-1.
In the second game, Lee took control in the fourth, when they scored four runs on four hits and a walk.
The Lady Bucs broke through in the top of the third.
Marie Joiner (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) singled up the middle and scored on a Rosa-Ramon double to right-center.
The Lady Flames tacked on a run on two hits in the third, and they added six in the fourth on two walks and five hits, the last a Lizzie Stevens grand slam that put them ahead 11-1.
Rosa-Ramon drove in the game's final run in the top of the fifth, when she drove in Joiner when she reached on an error. Joiner reached on a one-out single and stole second, moving to third when
Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) singled.
Joiner went 2-for-3 with two runs in the second game, while Rosa-Ramon drove in two runs.
The Lady Bucs meet Lee again Sunday at 1 p.m. for their final game of the regular season. The Lady Bucs will play Thursday at 11 a.m. in the GSC Tournament in Cullman, Ala.
