Box Score 2 CULLMAN, Ala.-No. 2 Alabama-Huntsville and West Florida defeated the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Thursday to eliminate them from the Gulf South Conference Tournament, with UAH winning the first game 8-0 and UWF winning the second 9-1.
In the opener, top-seeded UAH (40-7) turned three singles into a pair of runs in the first inning to score the only runs they would need.
They tacked on four more in the fourth inning on three singles, a walk and a homer, and they ended the game with a walk and a homer in the fifth to set the final margin at 8-0.
Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/James Campbell HS),
Ali Hare (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida Baker HS),
Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) and
Bianca Cowan (Byhalia, Miss./Center Hill HS) each singled in the game for CBU (9-40).
In the second game, UWF (28-22) jumped to a big lead early, scoring four runs on a walk, three singles and a double to take a 4-0 lead in the first inning. After a solo homer in the second, they scored twice in the third on a dropped infield fly with the bases loaded and a dropped third strike
The Argos tacked on two more on a homer in the top of the fifth. The Lady Bucs scored their only run of the day in the bottom of the fifth. Hare hit a leadoff single and moved to second on a throwing error.
Nikki Story (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) followed with an infield single, pushing Hare to third.
Kaitie Gaimari (Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph HS) pinch hit, grounding into a force play to bring Hare home, collecting her first career RBI in her final college appearance.
Story went 2-for-2 in her final game, while Gracia and Hare each went 1-for-2.
Amanda Wade (Water Valley, Ky./Graves County HS) tossed a scoreless fifth inning.
