MEMPHIS-Seven different players scored goals as the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs rolled to a 10-0 win over Lyon Tuesday night at Signaigo Field.
The Lady Bucs (4-0) opened the scoring early as
Emily Smith (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored off a feed from
Camilla Rodrigues (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) in the 11th minute. They put it away later in the first half with a sequence of four goals in just over eight minutes.
Lauren Magdefrau (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons HS) started the burst as she scored her first career goal on the rebound after a Rodrigues free kick was deflected in the 29th minute.
Katelyn Graham (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) scored unassisted in the 31st minute, and Rodrigues found
Alex Bickenbach (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) for a goal in the 33rd minute to extend the lead to 4-0.
Ellen Garner (Pulaski, Tenn./Giles County HS) headed in a cross from
Lauren Browning (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) to give CBU a 5-0 cushion heading into the halftime intermission.
The scoring resumed quickly in the second half, as
Mariana Tonelli (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) scored the first of her three second-half goals on a penalty kick in the 47th minute. Tonelli tacked on another goal, unassisted, in the 59th minute, and she scored on another penalty kick in the 68th minute to extend CBU's advantage to 8-0. Garner scored another goal in the 72nd minute, and
Erika Gavrock (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) scored the first goal of her career in the 82nd minute to set the final margin at 10-0.
For the game, the Lady Bucs out-shot Lyon 40-6, including a 20-2 edge in shots on goal. CBU goalkeeper
Emily Wragg (Nottingham, England/The Becket School) made a pair of saves to earn her first career shutout.
The Lady Bucs open GSC play with four straight road games, beginning Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they visit Valdosta State. Their next home game is Friday, Oct. 3, as they host Alabama-Huntsville at 5 p.m.
