Lady Bucs Snap Skid, Win in Four

CLINTON, Miss.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs hit a season-high .293 as they rolled to a four-set win at Mississippi College Tuesday night.

The Lady Bucs (4-7, 3-4 GSC) dropped a 25-23 decision in the first set after squandering a 22-20 lead, and the Lady Choctaws (4-8, 0-5) jumped to a commanding 12-2 lead in the second set. From there, however, it was all CBU as the Lady Bucs out-scored MC 23-6 the rest of the set to win 25-18. In the third set it was CBU who took a quick lead of 5-1, but the Lady Choctaws rallied and took a 15-14 edge. The Lady Bucs again finished the set strong, scoring 11 of the final 15 points to win 25-18. In the fourth set, the Lady Bucs rallied from an 18-17 deficit to win 25-21 and earn the victory.

Freshman middle blocker Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) racked up 12 kills, matching her season high, to pace the Lady Bucs, hitting .474. Maggie Sorensen (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) added 10 kills and 12 digs, while Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) hit .727 with eight kills and a team-high three blocks. Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) collected 31 assists, while freshman libero Hannah Sholtis (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community HS) notched a team-high 14 digs. Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added nine kills and 10 digs.

Krista Zieschang led MC with 12 kills. Meredith Williams dished out 19 assists, and Holly Tupper had a match-high 16 digs.

The Lady Bucs kick off a five-match homestand Friday night at 6 p.m. as they host Trevecca Nazarene.
