JACKSON, Tenn.-Host Union swept a three-set match from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Bulldogs (7-14, 6-6 GSC) scored the first five points and appeared to have the opening set under control. The Lady Bucs (7-15, 3-9) used a four-point run to tie the set at eight, then they took a 19-17 lead after
Demi Chipman (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) capped a five-point run with back-to-back aces. Union scored the final four points, however, to rally for a 25-22 win.
• The second set was back-and-forth throughout, with no lead of more than four points. The Lady Bucs were within a single point as late as 19-18, but Union scored six of the last nine points to win 25-21.
• The Lady Bulldogs built leads of 6-2, 10-5 and 14-7 as they took early control of the third set. The Lady Bucs again battled back within one point at 22-21 and again at 23-22, but Union scored the last two points to claim a 25-22 win and clinch the sweep.
KEY STATS:•
Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led CBU with nine kills, adding five digs.

Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) hit .500 with eight kills and three blocks.

Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) notched a match-high 11 digs.
• Chipman finished with three aces.

Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) had 20 assists.
