Bucs Hold Off Statesmen 1-0

MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs only took one shot on goal Friday night against Delta State, but they made the most of it, winning 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Brendan Bennett (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Mary's Christian Brothers Grammar School) scored his second goal of the season in the 20th minute, capitalizing on a feed from Kevin Tikhomiroff (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Complexo Eucacional Contemporaneo).

KEY STATS:
• The Statesmen (4-7-0, 1-3-0 GSC) out-shot CBU (9-3-0, 2-3-0) 14-5 for the game, including 5-1 in shots on goal and 10-1 in the second half.
Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) made four saves as he earned his third clean sheet of the season.

NOTABLE:
The Bucs recognized nine-year-old soccer fan Tyler West before the game. West, a St. Jude patient for two years, attended the game as an honorary captain of the CBU soccer teams. He joined the team captains for the pregame coin toss as well as the starting lineup introductions.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs will celebrate Senior Day Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they host Mississippi College. CBU will honor six seniors in pregame ceremonies.
