Governors Top Lady Bucs 74-55 in Final Exhibition

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.-Host Austin Peay jumped to a 39-17 lead and held on for a 74-55 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in CBU's final exhibition game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs struck first with a pair of Alexis Haddock (Collinwood, Tenn./Collinwood HS) buckets, but the Governors (1-1) out-scored CBU 17-5 the rest of the first quarter.
• APSU opened the second quarter with a 7-0 run to take a 24-9 lead, and they never allowed CBU closer than 12 again, leading by as many as 26 points in the second half.

KEY STATS:
• Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored a game-high 19 points, shooting 7-of-12 overall and 4-of-7 from three-point range.
• Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian School) scored 14, making 4-of-6 three-pointers.
• Haddock hauled down a team-high seven rebounds, six on the offensive glass.
• The Lady Bucs shot 39.2 percent (20-of-51) overall, including 37.0 percent (10-of-27) from beyond the arc. APSU shot 43.1 percent (25-of-58) for the game, including 37.5 percent (9-of-24) from three-point range.
• Each team grabbed 33 rebounds, with APSU holding an 11-10 edge in offensive boards, while the Lady Bucs committed 18 turnovers to the Govs' 12.

NOTABLE:
CBU played the game as its third and final exhibition of the season, while Austin Peay counted it as a regular season contest.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Lady Bucs open the regular season Monday night at 5:30 p.m. as they visit Harding. Their home opener is set for Thursday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. against Lee.
