SEARCY, Ark.-Host Harding ended the third quarter with an 18-5 run as they pulled away to a 69-47 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in CBU's season opener Monday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The early action was back-and-forth, with three ties and eight lead changes in the first two quarters.
• The Lady Bisons (2-3) provided the final lead change when they used a 10-0 burst to take a 25-17 lead on a pair of Kaylee Wiedower free throws with 2:00 remaining in the first half.
• CBU (0-1) used an
Ashley Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) three-pointer and a
Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) layup to pull within three, but they never came closer again.
• The Lady Bucs used another 5-0 burst to close within 30-27 before Harding's 15-5 run to end the third quarter gave the Lady Bisons a 48-32 lead after three quarters. CBU never came closer than 13 points again.
KEY STATS:•
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) led the Lady BUcs with 14 points, adding six rebounds before she fouled out in 24 minutes.
• Banks scored 11 with five assists and four rebounds.
• Schaefer hauled down a game-high 12 rebounds to go with eight points, two assists and a block.

Madison Luckett (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) added seven points and 10 rebounds.
WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs travel to Jackson to play a pair of games at the Union University Lady Bulldog Thanksgiving Classic this weekend. They face Stillman Friday night at 5 p.m. before taking on Lane Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Their home opener is set for Thursday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. against Lee.
