LOUISVILLE, Ky.-No. 4/1 Bellarmine used a 28-6 run over eight minutes of the second half as they pulled away to a 68-51 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday night at Knights Hall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• After the Bucs (1-3) scored first on a
Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) jumper, the Knights (3-0) answered with a 9-0 run to take a lead they would never relinquish.
• CBU answered with five straight points on an
Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) three-point play and a
Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) jumper to pull within two at 9-7, and they stayed within seven points for the remainder of the first half.
• The Bucs came as close as one point on back-to-back
Cody Garbuzinski (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) layups to start the second half as they pulled within 26-25, and a
Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) triple brought them within a point again at 35-34 with 13:19 to play.
• The Knights' surge started with a George Suggs layup off an inbounds play to give the Knights a 42-38 edge. By the time it ended with a Jarek Coles fastbreak layup, Bellarmine held a 68-44 lead with 3:11 remaining. Rusty Troutman scored 16 of his game-high 28 during the run as the Knights were 11-of-12 from the field with three three-pointers during the burst.
KEY STATS:• Dieball led the Bucs with 11 points in 16 minutes off the bench.
• Larkin scored nine to go with five rebounds.

Charlie Oswald (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) tacked on eight points with two blocks.

Jordan Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) added seven.
• The Bucs shot 40.7 percent (22-of-54) overall but a season-low 13.6 percent (3-of-22) from three-point range.
• Bellarmine shot 44.3 percent (27-of-61) overall for the game and 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from three-point range. The Knights shot 60.7 percent (17-of-28) in the second half.
• The Knights out-rebounded the Bucs 40-26, including a 15-7 edge in offensive rebounds that led to a 12-7 margin in second chance points. The Knights committed 12 turnovers to the Bucs' 11, but Bellarmine held a 16-6 edge in points off turnovers.
NOTABLE:• Bellarmine is ranked No. 4 in the NABC/Division II coaches' poll and No. 1 in the D2SIDA Media Poll.
• CBU has only played the No. 1 team in the nation twice, both in 2009-10 against Arkansas Tech.
• The Bucs are now 5-15 all-time against teams ranked in the top 10 of the NABC poll, and they are 13-30 overall against the NABC top 25.
