Late Dramatics Not Enough For Bucs in 4-3 Loss

ROME, Ga.-Senior forward Samuel Wilson (Memphis, Tenn., Christian Brothers HS) scored two first-half goals, and senior midfielder Kevin Tikhomiroff (Sao Paulo, Brazil, Complexo Eucacional Contemporaneo) scored an 89th-minute equalizer to force overtime, but host Shorter eliminated the Christian Brothers University Bucs 4-3 in overtime in the Gulf South Conference quarterfinals Tuesday night, just a week and a half after the two teams had played to a scoreless tie in two overtimes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Charlie Dennis opened the scoring for the Hawks (8-8-2) as he scored unassisted in the eighth minute.
• Wilson equalized for the Bucs (12-5-1) in the 17th minute when he headed in a Brendan Bennett (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Mary's Christian Brothers Grammar School) corner kick for his 10th goal of the season.
• Dennis scored again for the Hawks in the 27th minute as he scored another unassisted goal.
• Wilson knotted the game again in the 30th minute as he scored off a cross from Xavi Lao (Barcelona, Spain/Escola Pia Sabadell) for his 11th goal of the year.
• Shorter took the lead in the 53rd minute when Darwin Lom headed in a Fernando De Barros corner kick.
• The Bucs kept the pressure on down the stretch, taking seven shots, three on goal, 
• In the 89th minute, Tikhomiroff scored his second goal of the season as he converted a penalty with just 1:11 remaining.
• The Hawks scored the game-winner in the 98th minute as Josh Addinal scored as he headed in a cross from Mauricio Rancel after a corner kick.

KEY STATS:
• The Hawks out-shot the Bucs 16-12 for the game, including a 10-6 edge in shots on goal.
Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) made six saves for the Bucs.
