MEMPHIS-No. 23 West Florida remained in first place in the Gulf South Conference standings as they defeated the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in four sets Saturday afternoon to spoil the Lady Bucs' Senior Day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Bucs (8-20, 4-14 GSC) took a 14-10 lead in the opening set, but the Argos (25-5, 17-1) answered with a 9-1 run to take a 19-15 lead. CBU used a four-point run to knot the set at 21, then 22, but the Argos scored the final three to win 25-22.
• In the second set, CBU exploded for an early 6-0 lead, but the Argos scored 10 of the next 13 to gain a 10-9 edge, and neither team would lead by more than three points again until CBU used a three-point run to claim a 19-15 edge. After trading points, the Argos scored five straight to take a 21-20 lead, and they held on to win the set 25-23.
• In the third set it was UWF who jumped to an early 5-1 lead. After a timeout, the Lady Bucs used an 11-2 run to take a 12-7 lead, and they led by as many as six points en route to a 25-22 win.
• In the fourth set, UWF again took control early with leads of 5-1 and 8-3. The Argos never allowed CBU closer than three points again, eventually winning 25-20 to clinch the victory.
KEY STATS:•
Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS), the Lady Bucs' lone senior, celebrated her Senior Day with 17 kills, 10 digs and three aces.

Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) pounded 13 kills with a .407 hitting percentage.

Demi Chipman (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) notched 24 digs and five assists.
•
Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) dished out 42 assists with 14 digs.
WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs wrap up their 2015 season next weekend on the road. They visit West Alabama Friday night at 5:30 p.m. before visiting West Georgia Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
