Lady Statesmen Shut Down Lady Bucs 73-30

CLEVELAND, Miss.-Host Delta State held the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to their lowest point total in nearly 15 years in a 73-30 win over CBU Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• DSU (6-0, 3-0 GSC) took control early with a 10-0 run capped by an Anissa Jackson jumper with 2:22 remaining in the first quarter, giving the Lady Statesmen a 13-5 lead.
• After a Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) three-pointer, DSU scored 12 straight points to extend their lead to 25-8 on a Chelsey Rhodes triple with 7:24 remaining in the first half, and CBU (2-4, 0-3) never came closer than 14 points again.

KEY STATS:
• Ashley Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) led the Lady Bucs with nine points and three rebounds. 
• April Bonner (Memphis, Tenn./Kirby HS) added four points.
• The Lady Bucs shot season-lows of 28.6 percent (12-of-42) overall, 19.0 percent (4-of-21) from three-point range and 25.0 percent (2-of-8) at the free throw line.
• DSU shot 52.9 percent (27-of-51) overall, 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from three-point range and 78.6 percent (11-of-14) at the free throw line.
• The Lady Statesmen out-rebounded CBU 33-25, with each team grabbing five offensive rebounds. CBU committed 19 turnovers to the Lady Statesmen's eight.

NOTABLE:
• CBU's 30 points were their fewest in a game since Feb. 1, 2001, when they lost 43-25 at Arkansas Tech.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday night at 5:30 p.m. as they visit Mississippi College. Their next home game is set for Wednesday, Dec. 30, when they host Harding at 1 p.m.
