CLINTON, Miss.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs used a 17-6 run in the second half to seize control, and they held on for a 63-59 win at Mississippi College Saturday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Choctaws (2-5, 0-4 GSC) used a 6-0 burst to take an early 10-4 lead on a pair of Shaniqua Love free throws with 2:34 remaining in the first quarter.
• MC started the second quarter on a 9-2 run capped by a Kristen Sampson triple that gave them a 20-11 lead with 6:37 remaining in the first half.
• CBU (3-4, 1-3) began to fight their way back into the game late in the second quarter as
Erin Wilson (Memphis, Tenn./Overton HS) scored four points in a 6-0 spurt that brought the Lady Bucs back within a 27-24 margin with 1:03 remaining.
• The Lady Bucs scored the first six points of the second half to take a 33-31 lead, their first of the night, on a
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) layup with 7:49 remaining in the third quarter.
• The teams traded leads throughout the third quarter, but the Lady Bucs began the decisive run on a
Mikaela Blissett (Oran, Mo./Scott County Central HS) layup with 1:03 remaining in the third. By the time the run ended with a
Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) layup, the Lady Bucs led 57-49 with 4:38 remaining in the game.
• The Lady Choctaws steadily cut into the CBU lead, coming within 59-58 on a Carla Clemmons jumper with 55 seconds remaining. Reeves and Banks each sank a pair of free throws in the final 16 seconds to salt away the victory.
KEY STATS:• Banks led the Lady Bucs with 12 points to go with three assists.

Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian School) scored 11 with five rebounds and two steals.

Ashley Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) tacked on 11 points with six rebounds and two steals.
• Wilson scored five and dished four assists with two steals and a block.
• The Lady Bucs shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the field, including 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from three-point range.
• MC shot 33.3 percent (18-of-54) for the game, including 30.8 percent (4-of-13) from beyond the arc.
• The Lady Choctaws out-rebounded CBU 47-30, including a 15-5 edge in offensive rebounds, but the Lady Bucs forced 25 turnovers while committing 17.
WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs hit the road again next weekend as they visit West Georgia Thursday night at 4:30 p.m. and West Alabama Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Their next home game is set for Wednesday, Dec. 30, as they host Harding at 1 p.m.
