Big Second Half Carries Bucs to Victory

MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs out-scored visiting Lee 39-18 in the second half as they rolled to a 72-56 win Thursday night at Canale Arena in the Gulf South Conference opener for both schools.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Flames (2-4, 0-1 GSC) opened the game on a 14-4 run capped by a Jervon Johnson three-pointer with 17:10 remaining in the first half.
• CBU answered with a 13-4 run to close within one when a Charlie Oswald (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) free throw with 11:06 remaining in the half made it 18-17 Flames.
• Lee closed the first half on a 6-0 run to take a 38-33 lead into the locker room.
Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) scored five straight points to spark a 7-0 start to the second half that gave the Bucs the lead.
Jordan Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) scored four during an 8-0 burst that extended the lead to 57-47 on a Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) layup with 9:23 remaining, and the Flames never came closer than six points again.

KEY STATS:
• Hildreth posted game-highs of 19 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four blocks as he went 8-of-19 from the floor, including 3-of8 from three-point range.
• Dieball scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half, adding four rebounds and a game-high six assists.
Tyler Estep (Cincinnati, Ohio/Reading HS) added 11 points with four rebounds and three assists.
Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) tacked on 10 points.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they host Shorter.
