MEMPHIS-Visiting Shorter outscored the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 20-11 in the second quarter to take control en route to a 74-64 win Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Lady Hawks (4-1, 1-1 GSC) used a 16-6 run to take a 28-20 lead on a Tamarr Williams triple with 2:55 remaining in the first half.
• The Lady Bucs (2-3, 0-2) clawed back into the game early in the second half, using an 8-2 burst capped by a
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) layup to close within four points at 39-35 with 6:09 remaining, but the Lady Hawks answered with an 8-1 run and never allowed CBU closer than six points again.
KEY STATS:• Reeves scored a game-high 17 points for the Lady Bucs, adding four assists and three rebounds.

Madison Luckett (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) added 13 points, making 3-of-4 three-pointers.

Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored 11 with four rebounds and three assists

Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian School) tacked on 10 with five rebounds and three assists.
• The Lady Bucs shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) for the game, including 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from three-point range.
• Shorter shot 49 percent (24-of-49) overall and 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from beyond the arc.
• The Lady Hawks out-rebounded CBU 37-28. Each team grabbed 11 offensive rebounds, while Shorter committed 15 turnovers to the Lady Bucs' 13.
