FLORENCE, Ala.-No. 21 North Alabama used a one-hit shutout by Hillary Carpenter to claim a 5-0 victory over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Bucs (4-16) made their biggest threat early.
Jennifer Gonzalez (Covina, Calif./Charter Oak HS) started the game off with a double to right-center, but a strikeout, a popout and a groundout stranded her on second base.
• The Lions (17-4) broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring a pair of runs on a double, a walk, a single and an RBI groundout.
• UNA doubled its lead an inning later with two runs on a single, two doubles and an RBI groundout.
• The Lions set the final margin with one run in the sixth on a walk, an error and a two-out single.
KEY STATS:• Gonzalez went 1-for-2 with a double and a hit by pitch.

Gabrielle Sereika (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) was hit by a pitch and
Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) worked a walk.

Kasey Beekman (Aurora, Colo./Aliso Niguel (Calif.) HS) pitched three scoreless innings, pitching around three walks and two hits.
