Box Score 2 TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-Christian Brothers University senior outfielder hit two home runs and drove in 10 runs to lead the Lady Bucs to a 12-3, 8-2 sweep at Stillman Thursday afternoon.
GAME 1:WHAT HAPPENED:The Lady Bucs (6-18) scored in five of six innings and Gonzalez set a new school record with six RBI's as they won 12-3 in the opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Bucs scratched out a run in the second inning.
Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) led off with a single, and the bases were loaded after a
Gabriela Nodine (Redlands, Calif./Redlands HS) single and an
Amy Koury (Pearland, Texas/Pearland HS) walk. A two-out walk to Gonzalez brought a run home and gave CBU a 1-0 lead.
• The Lady Bucs scored four runs in the top of the third inning.
Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/James Campbell HS) led off with a single and moved to third when
Lauren Provence (Millington, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) reached on a two-base throwing error.
Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) followed with an RBI single, and Koury added another RBI single. After
Leigh Ward (Oriental, N.C./Pamlico HS) was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Gonzalez smoked a two-run single to center to give CBU a 5-0 lead.
• The Lady Tigers (13-12) scored three runs in the bottom of the third on three singles, three errors and a walk.
• CBU added two runs to the lead in the fourth inning. Rosa-Ramon reached on an error, and pinch-runner
Alana Byrd (Jackson, Tenn./Liberty Magnet HS) scored when Provence tripled down the right field line. Provence scored when Seward reached on a fielding error to give CBU a 7-3 cushion.
• The Lady Bucs added two more runs in the top of the fifth. Ward reached on an error and
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) legged out an infield single. Both scored when Rosa-Ramon sent a double into the gap in left-center.
• CBU set the final margin with three two-out runs in the top of the sixth. Koury and Ward singled, and Gonzalez followed with a three-run homer to left-center.
KEY STATS:• Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 with a run, a walk, a homer and a school-record six RBI.
• Rosa-Ramon was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBI.
• Provence went 1-for-4 with two runs, a triple and one RBI.
• Koury was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and one RBI.
• Ward went 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and two runs.

Kasey Beekman (Aurora, Colo./Aliso Niguel (Calif.) HS) earned the win by allowing three runs, none earned, on eight hits and two walks. She struck out three in six innings as she improved her record to 3-9.
GAME 2:WHAT HAPPENED:After being shut out for the first four innings, the Lady Bucs exploded for eight runs over the final three innings to pull away to an 8-2 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Tigers struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning, scoring on a single, a walk, a wild pitch and a two-run double.
• The Lady Bucs tied it up in the top of the fifth. Ward laid down a two-out bunt single and stole second, scoring when Gonzalez blasted another homer to left-center.
• The Lady Bucs blew it open with a four-run sixth inning. Koury reached on a two-out error. A walk to Steagall and a Ward bunt single loaded the bases for Gonzalez, who hit a two-run single to right-center. Oyhenart followed with a two-run single of her own to extend the CBU lead to 6-2.
• CBU tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh. Provence led off with a single, and Byrd scored as pinch-runner when Seward reached on a three-base error. Gracia laid down a squeeze bunt to bring Seward home and set the final margin at 8-2.
KEY STATS:• Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a walk, a homer, two runs and four RBI.
• Oyhenart went 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch, a steal and two RBI.
• Ward went 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base.

Tiari-Jay Fernandez (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani HS) earned the win, tossing four shutout innings of relief. She allowed two hits and one walk to even her record at 1-1/
NOTABLE:• Gonzalez moved into third place on the career home run list with 10 and fourth on the career RBI list with 71.
• Gonzalez posted two of the five highest single-game RBI totals in school history Thursday. Her six RBI's in game one broke the school record of five set by Casey King (3/1/2008 at West Alabama), Hannah Shackelford (2/26/2005 at West Alabama) and Kim Adams (3/7/2011 at Lane).
WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs return home for a three-game GSC series against No. 2 Valdosta State. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1 p.m., with a single game set for noon Sunday.
