MONTEVALLO, Ala.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs out-shot host Montevallo 18-3, but the hosts scored an overtime goal in the 93rd minute Sunday afternoon to hand the Lady Bucs a 1-0 loss, their first of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• Neither side could find the net in the first 90 minutes.
• The Falcons (1-2-2) struck for the game-winner in the third minute of overtime. UM goalkeeper Katie Pearson sent a long punt down the field. After CBU failed to clear the ball, Montevallo's Abby West won a loose ball and fired a quick shot into the net for the golden goal.
KEY STATS:• The Lady Bucs (3-1-0) out-shot Montevallo 7-0 in the first half and 10-2 in the second, but they were unable to find the net as Pearson and Ellie Mouyal combined for five saves in regulation. For the game, CBU held a 5-1 edge in shots on goal and a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
