Tammi's Last-Minute Winner Lifts Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS-Christian Brothers University freshman forward Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn., Collierville HS) scored the game-winning goal with 44.9 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Lady Bucs to a 1-0 win over Valdosta State Friday evening at Signaigo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After numerous good scoring chances for CBU (4-1-0, 1-0-0 GSC), the game appeared to be headed for overtime. In the 89th minute, Ingrid Mello (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) headed a corner kick off the crossbar, then Crissy Cornacchia (Toronto, Ontario/Birchmount Park) sent a shot off the rebound over the bar for a goal kick.
• On the ensuing goal kick, however, Mello won the header, sending it forward to Tammi, who dribbled in 1-on-1 to the goalkeeper, and she fired a shot over her for the game's only goal.

KEY STATS:
• The Lady Bucs held a commanding 22-9 edge in shots, including a 10-3 lead in shots on goal.
Emily Wragg (Nottingham, England/The Becket School) made three saves to earn her first shutout of the season.
• Valdosta State (1-4-0, 0-1-0) goalkeeper McCall Gardner made nine saves to keep the game scoreless into the final seconds.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs return to action Sunday at noon as they host West Georgia.
