Lady Bucs Hold Off Wolves 3-2

MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs scored three first-half goals and held on for a 3-2 win over West Georgia Sunday afternoon to remain unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (5-1-0, 2-0-0 GSC) opened the scoring in the 15th minute as they converted on a corner kick. Gabrielle Pilgrim (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) headed a shot on goal, which was saved by a UWG (4-3-0, 2-1-0) defender, but the rebound came right back to Pilgrim, who found the net for her first career goal.
• CBU added another goal in the 22nd minute. Sydney Piper (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS) sent a cross to the left side of the field for Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS), who gathered the ball and fired a shot into the top right corner for her fourth goal of the season.
• The Lady Bucs extended their advantage to 3-0 in the 37th minute as they scored off another corner kick. Camilla Rodrigues (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) served the corner kick to Chelsea Casaccia (Tampa, Fla./St. Benedict HS) at the back post, and Casaccia headed it home for her first goal of the season.
• The Wolves mounted a late rally as Corney Emmert scored off a cross from Parker Heissenbuttel in the 81st minute to put UWG on the board.
• UWG cut the margin to 3-2 in the 90th minute. After a failed clearance on a corner kick, Emmert gathered the loose ball in the top left part of the 18-yard box and she found the top right part of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
