CLINTON, Miss.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs outlasted host Mississippi College in four sets Saturday afternoon for their first Gulf South Conference win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Bucs (4-5, 1-2 GSC) scored the final three points of the first set to win 25-23 after neither team led by more than three points throughout.
• CBU built a quick 5-1 lead in the second set, but the Lady Choctaws (1-10, 0-3) rallied to take a 7-6 lead, then they used a 10-2 run to open a 21-13 lead. CBU steadily chipped away at the lead, closing within 24-23 on a
Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) kill, but MC answered with a kill to win 25-23.
• MC used another run midway through the third set to turn a 10-7 deficit into a 15-11 lead, but the Lady Bucs answered with a 9-2 run to take a 20-17 edge and held on for a 25-23 win.
• The Lady Choctaws took a quick 8-4 lead in the fourth set, but again CBU responded, taking control with a 9-1 run that gave them a 15-11 lead, and they preserved the lead to win 25-20 and clinch victory.
KEY STATS:•
Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) pounded a career-high 16 kills for CBU, hitting .344 in the process.

Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) logged 12 kills and hit .308.
•
Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added 12 kills, 11 digs and two aces.

Nina Tuszynski (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley HS) had 10 kills.
•
Alexa Henderson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie HS) dished out a career-high 38 assists with seven digs and three kills.

Marisa Wong (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS) had 17 digs and two aces.
•
Demi Chipman (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) added 12 digs and two aces.
