No. 10 Bucs Shut Out Badgers 2-0

MEMPHIS-The No. 10 Christian Brothers University Bucs scored twice in the first half as they claimed a 2-0 win over Spring Hill Friday night in the Gulf South Conference opener for both schools.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (8-0-0, 1-0-0 GSC) opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Samuel Wilson (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) scored his seventh goal of the season as he converted off a cross from Devon Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS).
• CBU tacked on another in the 42nd minute as Xavi Lao (Barcelona, Spain/Escola Pia Sabadell) scored his third goal of the season. Neil Cummings (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Malachy's College) earned the assist for the long ball ahead to Lao, who fired a quick shot past the goalie.

KEY STATS:
• The Bucs out-shot Spring Hill 17-8, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.
Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) made a save on the only shot he faced to record his second shutout and the Bucs' third.
• Spring Hill (2-4-0, 0-1-0) goalkeeper Will Carpenter made three saves.

NOTABLE:
• The Bucs are 8-0 for the first time in school history. Their previous best start to a season was 5-0 in 2000.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return to action Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they take on No. 17 West Florida.
