MEMPHIS-Visiting West Florida scored two second-half goals as they claimed a 2-0 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Sunday afternoon at Signaigo Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• Neither team officially scored in the first half, as both had apparent goals caled back for offsides early in the first half.
Mariana Tonelli (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) had a goal called back for being offsides in the sixth minute for CBU (6-2-0, 3-1-0 GSC), and the Argos (6-2-0, 2-1-0) saw a goal of their own waved off in the 12th minute.
• UWF broke through in the 55th minute as Kaley Ward finished off a cross from Daryl Bell for her seventh goal of the season.
• Bell converted a penalty in the 67th minute to set the final margin.
KEY STATS:•
Emily Wragg (Nottingham, England/The Becket School) made four saves for the Lady Bucs in goal.
• UWF out-shot the Lady Bucs 15-1 for the game, including a 6-1 lead in shots on goal.
WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs head to Alabama for a pair of GSC games next weekend. They visit Alabama Huntsville Friday night at 5 p.m. and West Alabama Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Their next home game is Friday, Oct. 9, when they host Delta State at 5 p.m.
