Late Goals Lift No. 16 Bucs Past Wildcats in Opener

MEMPHIS-The No. 16 Christian Brothers University Bucs scored two second-half goals as they pulled away to a 2-0 win over Bethel in their season opener Saturday afternoon at Signaigo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (1-0) finally broke through in the 70th minute when Jake Barrett (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) headed a loose ball in the box to Carlos Meza Amador (Tampico, Mexico/IEST Valles), who found the net for the Bucs' first goal of the season.
• CBU scored again in the 87th minute when Samuel Wilson (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) finished off a feed from Brendan Bennett (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Mary's Christian Brothers Grammar School), setting the final score at 2-0.

KEY STATS:
Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) earned his 11th career shutout as he made a save on the only shot he faced.
• The Bucs out-shot Bethel 21-8, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return to action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they host Ouachita Baptist.
