Chargers Pull Away From Bucs 82-73

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-Host Alabama Huntsville out-scored the Christian Brothers University Bucs 26-16 over the final 8:31 as they pulled away to an 82-73 win Monday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (7-9, 5-5 GSC) took an early lead when Alex Trentman (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart HS) capped an 11-4 run with a three-pointer that gave the Bucs a 19-14 edge with 11:03 remaining in the first half.
• The teams traded runs over the next eight minutes, with a 9-0 UAH (11-4, 8-2) run followed by an 8-0 CBU burst and then a 10-2 Charger run, giving UAH the lead for the remainder of the first half.
• A 10-0 CBU run capped by a Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) jumper gave the Bucs a 52-50 edge with 13:07 remaining, setting the stage for the Chargers' strong finish.
• UAH went on an 18-5 run capped by a Kip Owens three-point play with 2:28 remaining to regain the lead for good, and the Bucs never came closer than nine in the final minutes.

KEY STATS:
• Larkin scored 21 points with four rebounds.
Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) had 17 with six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) scored 11 with six boards.
• Trentman added 11 with a career-high 12 rebounds.
Cody Garbuzinski (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) grabbed nine rebounds to go with six points and five assists.
• The Bucs shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) from the floor but just 32.1 percent (9-of-28) from three-point range.
• UAH was 43.5 percent (27-of-62) overall and 42.3 percent (11-of-26) from beyond the arc.
• The Bucs out-rebounded UAH 39-33, but UAH held a 9-8 edge in offensive boards and forced 23 CBU turnovers while committing 12.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return home Thursday night at 7 p.m. as they host Union to wrap up the first half of the GSC schedule.
