MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs hit .333 as they swept visiting Valdosta State in three sets Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (8-5, 4-4 GSC) took command in the first set with a 10-3 run to take a 12-6 lead they would never relinquish en route to a 25-20 win.
• In the second set, CBU jumped to a commanding 11-2 lead early, capped by back-to-back
Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) kills. After conceding three points to the Blazers (5-10, 3-5), the Lady Bucs used a seven-point run capped by a
Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) kill to open an 18-5 lead en route to a 25-12 win. CBU hit .458 for the set.
• In the third set it was the Blazers who took a quick 5-2 lead, but CBU used a six-point run with
Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS) serving to regain the lead at 11-9. After VSU took a 15-13 edge, a five-point run capped by an
Erica Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) kill gave them the lead for good at 18-15, as they went on to win 25-22 on another Cooper kill.
KEY STATS:
• Cooper hit .526 with 11 kills.

Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) collected a match-best 14 kills, hitting .345 with nine digs and four assists.
• Reber dished out 28 assists with 10 digs and six kills, hitting .556.

Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) notched 10 digs.
• As a team, the Lady Bucs hit .333, including .458 in the second set and .424 in the third set.

The Lady Bucs return to action Tuesday afternoon as they host Arkansas-Monticello and Central Baptist in a tri-match. CBU faces Central Baptist at 3 p.m. and Arkansas-Monticello at 7 p.m., while UAM faces CBC at 5 p.m.
