ORLANDO, Fla.-No. 21 Tampa and Lynn swept a pair of matches from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday in the first day of the South Region Crossover.
NO. 21 TAMPA 3, CBU 0
WHAT HAPPENED:
No. 21 Tampa (11-4) hit .321 as they rolled to a sweep of the Lady Bucs (10-10).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Spartans closed the set with a 7-0 run after CBU had built a 21-18 lead on a
Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) kill. CBU collected four blocks in the set.
• In the second set, the Spartans jumped to a 14-7 lead and withstood a comeback, as the Lady Bucs came as close as 23-22 before losing the set 25-22.
• Tampa took early leads of 5-1, 8-2 and 13-4 en route to a 25-16 win to complete the sweep.
KEY STATS:

Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) logged a match-best 10 kills to go with four digs.
•
Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS) hit .333 with seven kills.
•
Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) added seven kills.
• Cooper had four kills and four blocks.
•
Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) added a match-best 27 assists with six digs.
LYNN 3, CBU 0
WHAT HAPPENED:
Lynn (11-6) hit .438 as they swept the Lady Bucs in three sets in the second match of the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Lynn outlasted the Lady Bucs in a nip-and-tuck set that saw 10 ties, as late as 22-all, before the Knights scored the final three points to win 25-22.
• The Knights hit .529 in the second set as they jumped to early leads of 7-1 and 10-2 before pulling away to a 25-13 win.
• In the third set, Lynn scored five of the last six points to claim a 25-20 win after CBU had been as close as 20-19 on a
Nina Tuszynski (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley HS) kill.
KEY STATS:
• Lenoir led CBU with 11 kills, hitting .333 as she added seven digs.
•
Marisa Wong (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS) notched a team-high eight digs.
• Reber dished out 23 assists with three digs.

The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday at 11:5 a.m. as they face Palm Beach Atlantic. Their next home match is Friday night at 7 p.m. as they host Union.
