MEMPHIS-It took the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs nearly 80 minutes to put a shot on target Sunday afternoon against Shorter, but junior forward
Nikesha Mitchell (Toronto, Ontario, Cedarbrae C.I.) converted it to lift the Lady Bucs to a 1-0 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Mitchell's strike came in the 78th minute, after numerous dangerous CBU (3-7-0, 3-3-0 GSC) possessions were snuffed out just before taking a shot.
Shelby Goodrich (Eads, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) dribbled towards the goal line right of the goal, then sent a cross to Mitchell in the middle of the six-yard box. Mitchell fired a one-touch shot to the back of the net for the game's only score.
KEY STATS:
• The Lady Hawks (1-8-0, 0-4-0) out-shot CBU 10-6 for the game, but CBU held a 2-1 edge in shots on goal.
•
Emily Wragg (Nottingham, England/The Becket School) made a save on the only shot she faced, in the 13th minute.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs return to action Friday night at 5 p.m. as they host West Alabama.
