Lady Bucs Tame Wolves in Three

CARROLLTON, Ga.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs hit .413, the fourth-best hitting percentage in school history, as they rolled to a three-set win at West Georgia Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (10-6, 5-4 GSC) set the tone early, hitting .458 in the opening set. They took early leads of 6-2, 9-4 and 12-5 before the Wolves (4-12, 1-8) used a five-point run to close within 13-11. CBU answered with a five-point run of their own, capped by an Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) ace, to rebuild an 18-11 edge en route to a 25-14 win.
• CBU seized control of the second set with a four-point run capped by a Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) kill, giving them an 11-5 lead. The Wolves later closed within 14-13, but another four-point run, this time capped by an Erica Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) kill, gave them an 18-13 lead and they went on to win 25-19.
• The Lady Bucs hit .522 in the third set, their highest percentage in a set this season, in the third and final set. After UWG tied the set at 11, the Lady Bucs used a 5-1 run to take a 16-12 lead. They finished the match on a 7-2 run to close out a 25-17 victory.

KEY STATS:
• Reber dished out 32 assists with five digs, four kills and three aces.
• Lenoir logged match-highs of 10 kills and 10 digs with four assists and two aces.
• Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) hit .636 with eight kills and three aces.
• Maurer added eight kills and three digs.
• Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS) hit .500 with seven kills and three aces.

NOTABLE:
• CBU's .413 hitting percentage is fourth in school history and the best since they hit .414 against LeMoyne-Owen in September 2011. The school record was set in Nov. 2010, when they hit .423 at LeMoyne-Owen.
• The Lady Bucs' previous high hitting percentage in a GSC match was last October, when they hit .407 against West Georgia.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday morning at 9 a.m. as they visit West Alabama. Their next home match is set for Friday night, Oct. 21, when they host Union at 7 p.m.
