MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs shot just 24.1 percent Monday night as they dropped their lone exhibition game of the season 69-42 at Memphis.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After an
Alex Trentman (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart HS) triple brought the Bucs within a point at 6-5 with 15:34 remaining in the first half, Memphis went on a 20-2 run capped by a KJ Lawson layup that gave them a 26-7 lead with 6:50 remaining in the half, and the Tigers' lead swelled to 31 in the final seconds of the first half.
• Trentman knocked down three triples early in the second half to spark the CBU offense, bringing them within 47-22 with 16:33 to play. CBU never came closer than 24 in the second half.
KEY STATS:
• Trentman was the game's high scorer, pouring in 20 to go with six rebounds in 24 minutes. He was 7-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.

Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) scored seven with four rebounds and three assists.
• The Bucs shot just 24.1 percent (14-of-58) for the game, including 16.7 percent (4-of-24) in the opening half. Memphis shot 44.4 percent (24-of-54) for the game.
• CBU was 21.6 percent (8-of-37) from beyond the arc to the Tigers' 31.3 percent (5-of-16).
• Memphis out-rebounded the Bucs 40-36, but CBU held a 13-8 edge on the offensive boards.
• CBU committed 18 turnovers to the Tigers' 14.

The Bucs hit the road Friday to open the season at Central State, with tipoff set for 2 p.m. Their home opener is set for Sunday afternoon, also against Central State, at 2 p.m.
